Brother AX-110 Electronic Typewriter (Number of issues)

I recently bought a Brother AX110 from a 2nd hand store and it has a few issues. (See Video)

Any Ideas?

Re: Brother AX-110 Electronic Typewriter (Number of issues)

The CAPS and ALT keys will not do anything visible when you press them; they just set things up for the key you press next.

First guess on the main problem is that the electrical circuits are not complete between a problem key and its associated motor (for turning the daisywheel) or solenoid (aka hammer, for pushing the character into the paper. Could be bad contacts in the keyswitches and/or one or more of the connectors on the cables along the way. And "bad" could mean dirty or worn out. The fact that most are on the right side might be because something was spilled there, so that would be the keyswirtches, which I believe are cleanable. Go to reddit.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards for advice. I don't have a recommended way of cleaning or even checking these things.

Also could be a bad chip that is supposed to manage these signals. Not likely, though. If that *is* the case, don't expect it to be fixable.

Good Luck.
