Hermes 3000 - In over my head?

I picked up a Hermes 3000 that someone attempted repair on in the past. The carriage is separated at the bearings, and one bearing appears to be missing. In addition, the drawband is missing.
So on to my questions:
1) Does anyone have a roller/bearing (barrel shaped) they would be willing to part with? Otherwise I can try using only 7 or get one machined. And I am assuming the bearings ride on the bevels.
2) Where does the fixed end of the drawband attach?
3) Do Hermes repair manuals or parts diagrams exist on the web?
There is probably more wrong than the obvious, but if nothing more I should learn a lot.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Hermes 3000 - In over my head?

I looked around to see what's on the internet. Not much! But maybe, just maybe, this can help regarding the carriage: https://www.reddit.com/r/typewriters/comments/64gjcj/hermes_3000_carriage_replacement/

I would reckon your best source of a roller bearing for the machine is from a "donor" 3000 -- maybe somebody here can help.

As for the question about where the drawband attaches to the carriage, turn the machine over and see whether there's a post or slot on the right hand underside of the carriage that the drawband either hooks over, or hooks into. Probably it will be pretty obvious.. Sorry I can't be more specific.

Since the drawband is missing, it's hard to know what the ends of the drawband look like, but maybe the manual (which you can find online) has pictures that will help.

Re: Hermes 3000 - In over my head?

An entire doner machine was donated to the cause and should be here some time next week.
BTW those bearings are more than a pain to try reinstalling. Six of eight now in place.

I'm impressed you got a donor machine -- most generous of someone out there! Looking forward to seeing and reading about the results.
