Underwood - B162138?

I bought a Underwood Standard Four-Bank recently, it's still being shipped on the way here. Based on the photograph that the seller had, the typewriter had this serial B162138. It's pretty unusual for Underwood to have a B desgination.

Anyone have any idea to date this model?

Re: Underwood - B162138?

Can you post a photo of it, or provide a link to the seller's photos? Maby the first digit isn't a B, but an 8.

EDIT: I see that you posted photos of it in another topic (thread) here. However, none showed the serial number. Where did you get the number from? If it was from the seller I'd wait until you receive the machine and verify the number for yourself before trying to chase this information down.

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Re: Underwood - B162138?

From my research, it was common for Underwood 4-bank portables of this era to have a serial number starting with "4B". The remainder of the number shows to be 1928 production.

She arrived a few hours ago and she's really stunning. Mechanically perfect and barely looks like a year old, except for the missing C of course
Yes you are right, there's actually a 4 in front too. Thank you!
