Shady goodwill steals

So I was poking around on the internet for typewriters to long for and I stumbled across the goodwill site. It had an SM-9 for 6 dollars. I thought this to be too good to be true. Is it? I know it is a bidding site and I probably won't win, but do they jack up the shipping? And how is the shipping? Is is substandard for a typewriter?

Shipping is pretty good, but it really depends on how far away you are and how big the machine is. I recently bought a Brother Deluxe with about $15 shipping from shopgoodwill. Packing is suprisingly good too, but I wouldn't trust them with a large machine. Be aware that they really know nothing about typewriters, and the machine could have many many defects. Always assume the worst when buying from there!

I always assume the worst, but I'll be sure to only get small portables. Thanks for the head up!

Oh, I meant more of standard-size machines to stay away from. I would assume a SM9 would be fine as long as the journey isn't too long. Then again, with shopgoodwill everything is a gamble so you can never be sure.

Well, it's cheap enough where what hae I really got to use. But I'll be sure to make sure it's in good enough condition to even b worth considering first.
