Aren't artists supposed to appreciate the beauty of art and seek to preserve it rather than to destroy it? There is so much beauty in these machines they've chosen to mutilate. It's a shame it wasn't appreciated.

Here's a particularly nasty death for one Underwood Model 3:

​For some inexplicable reason the owner decided to paint the entire machine, top to bottom, in "stone gray".

Maybe this Underwood was a rust bucket and this is an attempt to cover that. Hey, look! It´s been restored! (puts a 3-figure price tag on it).
