Re: Anyone got photos of underneath an Underwood SS/Rthym Touch?

That's perfect!

Hmm... that must have been one difference between he models... no video needed yet, but do you think you can just describe to me how it's being pushed down? There's got to be a spring somewhere...

Anyone else got one for photos?

Gotta finish this by tomorrow for this guy... and I don't really know what I should do with that spring...

Opps, should have added in addition to Javi's. The more the better!

Re: Anyone got photos of underneath an Underwood SS/Rthym Touch?

Does yours have a screw hole in that triangular piece too?

Re: Anyone got photos of underneath an Underwood SS/Rthym Touch?

I think there's nothing in that triangular piece... The larger part which moves guided by the selector just seems to slide over it, but here I'm talking from my memory. Today I didn't get the chance to take a closer look, I bet this week is the toughest at work of the whole year for me...

Anyway, I haven't tinkered too much with that typewriter, so I don't know if the touch control works properly. It's damaged and waiting to be repaired, hence the dirt everywhere. In fact, it makes a loud CRRRRACK when returning the carriage, and upon closer inspectionone of the clamps that holds the platen and allow for quick removal is broken. Maybe it's been hit hard, but even if it's the case I doubt something could have fallen off the touch control system.

But after all I'd still say there's no spoo... Er, spring.

Wonder if it was an extra feature or something extra that was optional? I find it unlikely both of ours would be missing that...

Re: Anyone got photos of underneath an Underwood SS/Rthym Touch?

Finally figured it out...

It IS all complete.

Underwood must have decided to use their remaining stock of those prices from earlier models with the screw hole. They decided that the extra spring was not adding enough or making a difference, so they removed it. It's now all controlled by that one triangular spring! Because when it slides up and down, the pressure it takes to hit a key changes too. So there's that. I looked up a ton of the rhythm touches on eBay, all have no springs.

Thank you for your help! Now we both don't have to worry about it, lol.
