Underwood 6 bell won't ring

I have an Underwood 6 that the bell won't ring on when I type to the right margin.  I'm wondering if there is a spring that is missing? It isn't sticking as I gave the machine a good cleaning.

Does anyone own one of these? Is there a spring on the bell mechanism?

Re: Underwood 6 bell won't ring

colrehogan, if you push up on the right margin indicator, does the bell ring? I know that on my Master and No. 5 if you push the right margin indicator the bell will ring. If yours doesn't there might be something missing.
Hope this helps. OliverNo.9

Re: Underwood 6 bell won't ring

I’m having a similar issue.  There is a bar that comments to the right side of the margin bar that hits the bell striker.  When the carriage moves over the right margin, it stops five spaces later and never rings the bell.  I’m not sure what’s wrong at the moment.  I just finished tearing the machine apart piece by piece to clean it
