Maintenance & Repairs » S key is raised one half above on Royal #10 » 14-10-2015 12:35:06

That's it, exactly as you described.

I'm not sure I understand the bending the typebar. It litterly is longer than the others. If I bend it, it won't strike correctly. It needs to be shortened, which I find impossible to do. It's as if, when they made the typewriter eons ago, someone got a longer typebar than what they should have for the 's.'  - I've never seen anything like it on any other typewriter ever.

I have a single beveled glass Royal #10. I really like it, everything works great EXCEPT:

the S/s key is raised about halfway from the normal line height.

I noticed that the arm is a little higher than the others.

How in the world could a person fix something like this?

Yes, that's it!

I'm hoping to get something close enough at my local hardware store

no I can.t That's what I mean.

I found a missing spring on the left side, underneath.

when aI turn it upright the shift key just flops down and the bank of keys drops down along with it.
It needs a spring to hold it up.

Everything else seems to work very nicely.

Except the shift key is always in the down position which makes it type caps all the time.

The spring seems to be missing or ?? underneath. I can see the post - it looks like a screw post and I wonder if I would tighten the screw underneath it ...??

Any help would be great. thanks.

The World of Typewriters » typecasting, not so great for search engines? » 16-4-2014 09:55:16

good point.. I could even typecast my responses.. that would be different.

now.. another question.. Its been almost a year since I did any typecasting.. and quite frankly I didn't really write about anything much.. mostly just random ramblings..about nothing really... would it be better to just start posting.. or delete everything and start all over and then of course keep posting more regularly?  I'm leaning on the later.

I have let my typewriting blog.. kind of.. well no kind of.. just plain die out. I wish to revive it again by doing some more typecasting.

It hit me in that typecasting does nothing to help you get on the search engines does it? the fact that you scan your typewritten page and put it up on your blog it sees it as a photograph, not as actaul text, correct?

So then, the question is, does the love of the typewritten page more important than how I rank with the search engines, correct?

well the spools are what was on it when I got it..
the second picture shows the spool covers laying to the right side of the typewriter on top of the manual that also comes with it.
