I know it’s rude to just sign up to forums and start asking questions. So a little bit about me…I started working with typewriters right about after I started acquiring old computers. It all started with finding a Birthday present for someone who likes to write and so far I don’t see any sign of me stopping. I usually acquire my typewriters at the local thrift stores.p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; line-height: 115%; }I found an IBM selectric II recently, I couldn’t resist, for 10$ it had a bag full of unused cartridges and letters balls (whatever they are called). It seemed to work at first, but I was ready for a tear-down. Upon using it I noticed the tabulator key was not working and that it was very dirty on the inside.Upon opening I found a small spring at the bottom of the case (Hopefully it doesn’t need it?). I lubricated the tabulator shaft and realigned it (The lever arm had spun out of place). I removed the crusty foam. The typing ball is working, but the ribbon lifting mechanism is not. It goes up and stays up. I tried lubricating it and it didn’t do much. When I tried typing before I took it apart it worked though? Worse, I was putting back one of the springs and it decided that life was not good enough and jumped of somewhere! I’ve also noticed that the paper alignment bar is missing a spring also.To get to the point: Where can I find small springs? Where can they be bought? I have a few other machines that need very small springs. Also anyone know what could be causing the problem with the lift mechanism? I'm guessing bad spring?A few pictures...p { margin-bottom: 0.1in; line-height: 115%; }The main work bench has another instrument on it. That's why it's on a little corner
