I'm sorry. Double checked, I think for scenarios it doesn't work.

i) it will not run from right to left even when you manually operate the reversing mechanism

ii) it will not trip the auto reverse

I tried with a grommet ribbon. No luck...

It goes from left to right fine, but not reverse: right to left.

Any ideas?

At the end of a spool the SG1 just types on the same spot and doesn't reverse. Does the SG1 need ribbons with a grommet in them? I'm using non-grommet type right now.

Thanks

Hi all,

Just fixed and adjusted the problem with the carriage being stuck and the alignment of upper and lower case type.

But now every time I shift-type on upper case it throws the ribbon out of the ribbon holder in the middle.

Any ideas?

I've gone on an Olympia buying spree since I've started using typewriters two months ago.

What's your desert island Olympia typewriter?

I'll say my SM9 with wide carriage.

I've narrowed down my pen collection to 7 pens and they're all inked and in rotation.

I guess I want ink to run down so I can rotate inks too

It's a fun limitation to set to make sure everything gets used.

I don't run through enough ink to warrant converting a pen into an eyedropper.

Most of my pens are cartridge and not piston style.
I think I'd need to write a lot more in order to finish a cartridge in a day.

Perhaps we should start a fountain pen thread? Or is that sacrilege on here?
