I think I may have just found a rare Underwood Typewriter Cover...

Found this cover (Not actual pic) at an antique store for 35$. The guy and me made a deal for me to buy this working underwood 5 (Factory refinished) and this metal case for $80. I cant find anything about this case. Rare? Value? Anything? Its like new, with the pinstripes and handle and everything.

Re: I think I may have just found a rare Underwood Typewriter Cover...

I've never even seen a picture of an Underwood cover. I know Smith-Premiers, early LC Smiths, and Olivers had covers, but I've never seen an Underwood. I think it just may be uncommon, but what do I know.

A high schooler with a lot of typewriters. That's pretty much about it.

Re: I think I may have just found a rare Underwood Typewriter Cover...

Factory refurbished Underwoods are common and were even sold through department stores alongside new models.

There's a big difference between a "cover" and a travel case. I have a few Underwood covers, but they're made of fabric, not metal. I've never looked into it, but it's possible that the metal travel cases were used by manufaturer salesmen and representatives who lugged standards around as part of their job.

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Re: I think I may have just found a rare Underwood Typewriter Cover...

Typewriter BEFORE (Havent got around to cleaning it just yet, Ill post after tomarrow or something.)
Travel Case BEFORE
Travel Case AFTER (With my other Underwood). It fits perfectly on an Underwood Standard 5! The case says Patented Aug 5 02, August 5th 1902? Im currently making a new wooden base for the case. Not for actual use, but just to go along with it. If anyone has any info on the case, please tell!
(Dont mind the mess, in the middle of packing)
