Sage advice!
It did get here, but a bit late for the birthday party. Maybe for the best.
Last laugh might be on me. ; )
Typewriter called "Diana" for a speed typist named Diana. Perfect gift!
The keys are reversed of course. Had been so focused on the badge-- forgot that slight detail.
Luckily 'olympian' typist already has Hermes to carry the message. : )

PS: conflicting info about serial numbers and dates-- even if electric model was made.
Typewriter database site mentions an an electric model, but these begin at 13,365
Table at Wiki needs revision? "1953 - Mannheim Germany."
The back of this one reads, "Royal-Schreibmaschinen GmbH Nürnberg"
Another source states 1954 as year when Royal merged with McBee Co. and moved production to Mannheim.
He puts s/n of 12,963 at (c. 1952)
Anyone know for certain? "Circa 52 or 53"

I'm not sure of the production date, but I do have one question:
Does she type as nice as she looks?

Thanks. Typeface is clean so looks nice & crisp. Love the basket shift (if that's correct term.)
Might take a while to live down Z/Y mix up.
She typed, "Wow! A typewriter with mz name on it! Thank zou verz much!"
OK, so I'm a "doom-koff" for overlooking that little detail.

Complete Digression:

I think that is what my laptop is installing now. Windows 10. It says don't turn it off. Of course. I'm going to bed.

Chuckle. That's exactly whatI did! Getting security software to work was a pita, but I like Win-10 so far. Maybe M$ finally listened.

I haven't seen anything on my computer yet that said that Win 10 was installed. Oh well. I heard something on the local news tonight that there was something that you had to opt out of or else people could see (at the minimum) your outlook. I don't recall exactly what they said, but you might want to search for a security issue with win 10.

Thanks.
Have to check if bug or 'leak' in outlook. Forums probably lit up if that's the case! M$ got smart this time & let volunteers beta test it for a while. So unless hackers/info theives waiting for public release-- who knows.
There are some risky (imo) options that default "on" (meaning share with MS or open to public)
During setup, clicked most everything off except "error reporting."
Could go on about geek stuff, but probably needs its own topic. : )
