I have a typewriter that doesn't have a bell at all as part of the depression era design. You get used to it after a while.

After spending an hour looking at it & thinking, "There's something missing.  It has to match up with a part in the center that controls the margins."

I found this little jobber on the floor.  (Part that I have in the clamps)  That 'clink' sound was probably it hitting the tiles.  : /



With this part fractured, nothing to move the clapper (or whatever the technical term is.)



Win some & lose some. 

Don't suppose anyone knows where I might get replacement part.  Otherwise - interesting to know they made them without bells.  I've got to have some consolation.  ; )
