Bango's Typemachine Adventures

Good Evening Typefolken,

1946 Underwood Universal

Triple cleaned the casing with my handy-dandy toothbrush and lukewarm soapy water. Used a soft but firm brush on the typefaces. For the keys I used soapy water and LOTS of 2"x2" cotton patches that I got in   bulk from Outers (sold as cleaning patches for pistols). Cleaned the platen and carriage, the latter consisted of using a small soft paintbrush to clean out dust and guk from the hard to reach places. Also, applied Hoppe's Gun Oil to the tracks for a crisp carriage return (if you know what i mean, wink). Still need to polish the shiny metal bits and I think its about time for a new ribbon! I've really enjoyed typing with this machine, and judging by the amount of smoke and sweat I cleaned of her I think the previous owners did as well!

Love,
Bango.

Wow!!  What a looker!!  I wish I could set "Mamma Kat," my 1946 Underwood manaul upright typewriter, beside it.  Both of them shined like new pennies.  It even sounds like the things I did to my machine also!
