Re: Feel free to dislke!

I wouldn't really mind if you could just get some other keys and snap them back on, but what they do cannot be fixed.

Re: Feel free to dislke!

I've tried to dislike as much as I can, but I can't seem to get the dislike over 39.  Just give me both those Royal typewriters--even after he's had a go at them, I've got parts--even if the Royal #10 has to have Royal 440 keys.  They won't be original, but by gum the typewriter will still live!!!  I'll put new levers in there and fix the rest of the machine!!

Re: Feel free to dislke!

I didn't see you there, TypewriterGuy.  No, you cannot fix the original levers these butchers leave behind.  The hamhanded mess they leave has to be completely removed.  It is major surgery that takes time, but it is doable.  You have to have a spare parts machine that has levers that fit.  You may even have to get a newer one with plastic keys (but if you have an identical machine that's a carcass ol' snip doesn't know about, better still).  Yes, it is labor intensive, but isn't that half the fun of restoring these wonderful machines?
