It's a very pretty machine, I think! I like the grey, a sort of dove grey. Mine dates from 1955, which is the same year as my SM3 was made. The Blue Bird, which is a rebranded Torpedo 18b, is in the same class of typewriters even though it's a few years newer - 1960 (s0 that makes it coeval with an SM4...) I was lucky, like you I found  one 3000 in the right price range = at the top of what I was thinking I could pay, though not bad at all - and I snapped it up! So happy I did.
