LC Smith 8 has stiff action

Hello,
one of my LC Smith 8's has a stiff action.
This model predates the touch control on LC Smith machines.
However when the carriage is at the end of it's travel all keys are easier to use as if the escapement has too much resistance in it somehow.
Is there a adjustment for this?
If the touch was a bit lighter it would be a much better machine.

Re: LC Smith 8 has stiff action

Sounds like your machine could use a good cleaning.  A light solvent such as mineral spirits should do it.  I have used charcoal starter fluid and even diesel fuel (all are perfectly safe if you use them in a well-ventilated area).  You can use transmission fluid to lubricate stubborn joints.  Most of all, use the ever-lovin' tar outta that thing.  Type, type, type!!  Exercise loosens up machines and people.
