Guess which side I've been polishing

In the odd moment of spare time I have available I've been doing some polishing. See if you can guess which side I have been working on first.

Re: Guess which side I've been polishing

I initially thought that you had polished off the alignment ruler, but after looking at your other photos of the machine in the recent acquisitions thread I realized that someone else had done it. Regardless, it's looking good. It's always satisfying when you can get an old beauty to shine a little one again.

It didn't look like the paint had been worn down enough for a rule to have been there. Is it possible that this model only had the rule on one side?

I suppose anything is possible. I have two Royal 10s, a first and a second generation model, and both have the alignment ruler on both sides. Perhaps somewhat telling, the ruler is partially worn off on the right side of one of the two machines.

Re: Guess which side I've been polishing

I have a 10 as well, same issue as Uwe's. I wonder why the right side gets more wear than the left.

Re: Guess which side I've been polishing

This is what I've been using for polishing. It's great for cutting through 86 years of cigarette tar. The wax then adds a shiny protective layer.

Wow!!  Smooth as a baby's "back side."  And quite a bit older than any baby you and me will ever see.
