If you're looking to pass it on... I am just one state over...

But I thought you were maxed out at 15 machines?

Well... That's the ideal. But I am known for being extremely resourceful when it comes to space...

Re: Another machine destroyed in the post

An update on my two arrivals today:

#1 came from  Canada (in record time even!) Machine did not have a case. The carriage was secured with a foam band wrapped around the machine.  Then it was wrapped in plastic, then fat bubble wrapped. It was in a form fitting box that was placed in another form fitting box that was finally wrapped in a plastic bag.  It arrived intact and the machine works fine.

#2 came from 2 states away.  It was it it's case and there was stiff foam in the space between the ribbon cover and case lid.  The case was bubble wrapped with styrofoam around the four sides. That was placed in a bigger box with about 5" of packing chips all around.  The machine is natch and workng fine.

#3 is supposed to come next week. Let's hope my luck holds up.

If the machine is to move on you shall have right of first refusal. It certainly is never going back into a shipping box again on my watch!

Re: Another machine destroyed in the post

My 3rd machine came today.  The streak is over.  It came damaged and it had the shortest distance to ship.

It was "double boxed" but no other padding other than some thin bubble wrap wrapped once around the machine in the case. No packing chips.  No spaces at all between both boxes.  The jostling during transit must have knocked the contents around because a knob broke in two and some other thing is not working right.  I emailed the seller and he wants to look for a replacement knob but should I chance keeping it and finding something else wrong afterwards? Should I just return it (at seller's expense)?

Re: Another machine destroyed in the post

What else is wrong with it? Are major functions (like typing) not working?

Re: Another machine destroyed in the post

Well here's a biggie--it's not even the model it was advertised as.  It's still a nice looking machine but with less useful features than I thought I'd be getting with the model listed.

Re: Another machine destroyed in the post

Amazing - but not really amazing. And it's very likely that if the knob was broken, there will be carriage issues. Was the carriage locked?

What model did they say it was, and what is it?

You will have to raise a dispute if the buyer wants you to hang on for a new knob, or some other foolery.

Can we see pictures?
