Any ideas what the RP key is for? Indian rupees?

I have seen 'Rs' symbols on a couple of machines and always thought that that was Rupees. Those machines also had a £ symbol so the Anglo-Indian connection would make sense. If so, you wouldn't see Rupees on any machine made before 1947/48 because the Indian currency before that was £ sterling (under British rule). So in a round-about way, I'm saying that I don't think 'Rp' is rupees, but I cannot suggest what it might be !

For currency, Rp designates Indonesian rupiah, but that's a North American typewriter (dollars and cents keys) so I doubt that it has anything to do with money.
The pronoun I has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

But what about the upside down Q? Anyone think this a zero delineator - to distinguish zero from the letter O?

I think you're right on both counts. Interesting set of keys. You could write in both french and german on that machine. What's the typeface like?

Yes another - got it cheap for parts; typeface seems same as that in the database, but not wotking well enough to print out yet.
Indeed French and German - I use both of these fairly often, so this 'Swiss' keyboard is the one I usually go for.
ETA
Just noticed that there is no apostrophe on this keyboard. If it turns into a working machine, I think I'll file down the exclamation mark! - which I can then print the old-fashioned way, if need be.

Can I just say that I love that zero that looks like an upside down Q. Totally cool. That TW has a great collection of characters.
