Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Great work sorting it out, Mike...

Were you able to catch a case with the machine ?

Yes but not a fan of this era S.C. cases. The plastic is often cracked like this one or the handle snapped off. Also it's clunky oversized to handle the wide carriage.  Haven't cleaned it up. It does snap shut ok.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Here is the marketplace picture. I've gotten pretty good at removing old tape:
Fingernail, Goo Gone, wooden stir stick, more Goo Gone, more stir stick, then verrrrrry carefully work away the wet goo remainder with a razor blade. I then treat what's left over with Goof-off (stronger than Goo-Gone, never use it on plastic). Finally, get the Goo Gone off with some glass cleaner etc.

1958 Blue Bird. Same machine as a Torpedo 30.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Mike,

Stunningly beautiful Blue-Bird !  Congratulations...nice score.

One is still on my look-for list...but I hold out for one with a Tabulator function.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Green Tower Tabulator. This was the missing color from my collection of the pastel Tower Tabulators made in 1960. I probably paid too much for this one but got some of the others, (being a Sears brand), for very little so maybe it all evens out. Building a collection doesn't have to be expensive. There may also be a cream-colored Tabulator but it's hard to tell from photographs that resemble the putty-colored one I have.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

I think serious collectors were butting heads for this model said to be favored by Ian Flemming.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Reminds me of the 1980's when black porcelain fixtures and brass/gold trim in bathrooms were all the rage...
