JJ Short

Just want to give a plug if anyone is on the fence about having their platen recovered. I sent the platen and feed rollers for my Studio 45 off to JJ Short and after a few weeks they arrived. I finished installing everything yesterday and I was really surprised at the results. Sound wise I would describe it as a thud instead of a smack sound. Much quieter. As for impression, I would say it's slightly better, but it was never bad to begin with. Paper handling is rock solid. Well worth the money if you use you machine on a regular basis.

Re: JJ Short

Hi KD

Couldn't agree more. You've almost said exactly what I said after having the platen of my 1936 Imperial Good Companion. Well worth the investment for those special to you typewriters.

We humans go through many computers in our lives, but in their lives, typewriters go through many of us.
In that way, they’re like violins, like ancestral swords. So I use mine with honor and treat them with respect.
I try to leave them in better condition than I met them. I am not their first user, nor will I be their last.
