Font Name ? Facit 1620

Would anyone know what Facit called this font style ?

It's on a nice Facit 1620 that I have in-coming.

Thank you.  It is very similar to the font on my 1964 Hermes 3000.

Re: Font Name ? Facit 1620

Facit predominantly used typefaces from two foundries, so it didn't have its own unique typeface. The company used typefaces supplied by the Swiss manufacturer Caracteres, which also supplied Hermes, Patria, Swissa, Halda (and later Facit), and the German manufacturer Ransmayer & Rodrian, which supplied too many brands to list here.

When the machine arrives and you can look at a type slug, my guess is that it will be stamped CSA 14A (Caracteres).

Hi Uwe,

Yes...type-slugs are marked "CSA" and "11A" (which I assume is a font/style order number).  Very nice cubic font.

It will be on my cleaning bench, tomorrow morning.

Ready to join the clan.

SN places it as a 1969-made machine...

That's pretty. Now I want one. Kinda stretches my idea of "portable" though...

Re: Font Name ? Facit 1620

Hi Overwood,

The Facit 1620 is about the same width of my Olympia SM9 and about 1" less deep than the SM9.

The 1620 weighs 13.4 lbs. without its case, while my SM9 weighs 15.8 lbs. without its case.

Yeah but the Olympia has a 1 key. Those are heavy. https://cdn.boardhost.com/emoticons3/cheerful.png
