Facit Man Figurine...

This one just closed on eBay for $ 75.00 plus shipping.

I was curious to see how high it would go.

Couple of bidders went after each other.

Re: Facit Man Figurine...

Typewriter and paraphernalia pricing has pushed past the point of being ridiculous. I stopped using eBay a few years ago, but I do remember these Facit mascots (there seems to be a number of iterations) popping up on a fairly regular basis. I don't recall them fetching a lot, but at $75 USD it would be worth making a mold of one and cranking out a couple of dozen copies.

This one was cast on the back as "Made In Hong Kong".

Re: Facit Man Figurine...

My lovely wife of 40+ years surprised me by leaving a little Facit Man on my table lamp in my office/hobby room.  With little magnets on the feet, it has a place there.

Re: Facit Man Figurine...

I have a little surprise for her for Christmas Eve.

She loves to sew and has 6-7 vintage metal sewing machines from the 1950-1960's.

This one is missing the little bezel around the light switch push-button...but I have a lead on that item, already.

I will hide this one in the midst of some of my typewriter cases...should be safe from discovery until the Holidays.

You better hope she doesn't read this forum!

Cool Facit man - it would be fun to have one garden gnome size.

Re: Facit Man Figurine...

Hi Uwe,

I did find these photos on the Internet...and based on the scale of other items in the photos, it looks like there was at least a bigger one.  Maybe those were for counter-top displays in typewriter stores...but for their mechanical calculator customers with the numbers on the Facit Man's hat.

These would be the perfect size for a garden gnome !

I think my Christmas present for my wife is well hidden on this forum.  Fingers are crossed.

Re: Facit Man Figurine...

It looks like there's a sticker on the breast that frequently is lost over the years. The gnome-like figure has it partially missing, and your desk-size version is gone. Given the string, I wonder if the one you have was meant to be a Christmas tree ornament?

Re: Facit Man Figurine...

There even seem to be some variations of the figurine without the chest badge.  And having bigger feet and even a large nose.  I found these photos :

Re: Facit Man Figurine...

I might try my hand at making up a new chest badge for my figurine.  If it works out, I will post up a follow-up photo of the "after".
