Re: Best laugh in typewriter ads

Oops, this is the one I meant with the weird frame.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-PATENT-DATED-1917-CORONA-3-FOLDING-TYPEWRITER-NUMBER-573127-/231831201699?hash=item35fa3767a3:g:gP4AAOSwstxVGSto

Also, all you got to do is type in rare typewriter in search, hit enter, then change minimum price to 500. Sit back and laugh.

Which, the price or the description? The price is outrageous enough, but the description of it being a 1940s model is completely wrong. The Futura was manufactured from around 1958 to around 1963. Of course it's fairly common to see listings with wilding inaccurate claims of manufacture dates. I sent the eBay seller a FYI about his date claim being wrong, so it'll be interesting to see if the date gets changed.

No the part where that person has 45+ years of experience! I think I have read that this guy is a fake somewhere (obviously).

They are apparently clueless to the fact that they still make typewriters.

Re: Best laugh in typewriter ads

Given the quite reasonable cosmetic condition, I'm not that surprised at the price it has reached.  Though not generally a collector of machines this early, it is attractive and a good restoration project - this fixes required could well be very simple.
