BTW, a cute story. After I bought it the guy said, rather softly and shyly, "If you don't mind my asking, what are you going to do with it?" I suppressed the urge to laugh, and just grinned broadly and said, "I'm going to type with it."
He replied in disbelief, "Really?"
I explained yes, really, in some detail.

My wife and I run into the same when we go pick up a vintage typewriter.
She has 7-8 of them and uses them all and usually 1-2 each on a specific project.
Now I wear a shirt or tee-shirt she has made for me when we go do a pick up and the seller can she her skills first-hand.
I think a seller who is the one and only owner of a machine really appreciates knowing their machine is going to a good home and not just off to the "flipping" world.

I may have spoken too soon. The vibrator is now consistently hanging up even after cleaning it, although my usual cleaning supplies are 1500 miles away. I'll have to go out and get some spirits and spray bottle and compressed air to do a better job. The ribbon is operating properly so it must just be gunky. It feels sticky, but the front and sides of the rails are spotless. I almost wonder if something is bent. I may have to remove the vibrator to clean the back side properly, which doesn't look like a difficult job but I have a way of making small easy things into big problems.
