Most recently...this Olympia SGE-A52 came to me from ShopGoodWill.
I did reach out to them and they welcomed the tips I could give them.
This machine is a brute, much larger than my SG1 and it weighs 52 lbs. versus only 38 lbs. for the SG1.
It came out of a sturdy and well-packed box and worked flawlessly once I plugged it in for the first time.

Those are lovely machines. I just had a client mail in an Olivetti Graphika for repair. It was double boxed with tons of bubble wrap and foam but still arrived with a cracked shell and bent frame

I received a Brother Charger today from SGW that was in a box barely larger than the case. It had taken a big hit on one side, denting the side and resulting in carriage problems. I have the platen out and was successful in making the repairs with my limited experience. I smoothed the thin sheet metal by laying it on a flat surface and hammering a sized wood block against the back side.
Expecting my first Olympia SM3 this week. I gave instructions on packing and hope they read them. My success rate is running about 50%.
