That’s about the size of it. Olivetti Dora. Fine on lowercase, when goes to shift only some advance the carriage with harder stroke. I saw something on here about this adjustment but can’t find it now. Sounds different too on shift - like a hollow thunk. Thanks!

Annnnd I took it off its pad and put it right on the table and problem solved. I think the pad was pressing on the bottom, which constricted the something under there. In any case: it clearly needs to worked on, but is functioning now.
How do you get those screws off the bottom of a Dora? It is going into an odd little nut that has nowhere to grab and just spins.
Also the color is more a teal, which I cannot find anywhere online. Underwood 314 has it. And the silver carriage, not black But it has block letter keys, not Lettera 32 keys like mine, and still no page supports like mine. And mine is made Barcelona. Definitely a weird little critter but we are getting along great!

Hi Lazy Dog
The base of the Olivetti Dora (Underwood 310) is held on by 2 rubber grommets along the back edge and hooks into the plastic body or a metal strip along the front edge. With time, these grommets get stuck to the metal posts and can be a bit stubborn to get off. A few drops of dish soap and water mix can help get these grommets to loosen up. Take a flat blade screwdriver and gently pull the grommet away from the metal post and wet the area with the dish soap/water mixture.
Now you should be able to get the flat blade screw driver under the grommet and lift it over the metal post.. Once both grommets are off, lift the back edge of the base away from the body and the front edge will unhook. When reinstalling the base, apply a dab of silicone grease (plumbers grease) to the inside of the grommets, this will make for easier removal next time. Hope this helps,

Oh, I get it! I should have been able to grok that. I'd have been twirling that dumb post around for a week waiting for it to thread and open. Thanks Sky!
