Are parts like the covers available anywhere to buy as replacements?

Replacement ribbon covers? Not that I'm aware of. Essentially you'd have to buy a parts machine and use the ribbon cover from it, but then again given the condition of the Remingrton in your photos, I'd describe it as a parts machine. Are you sure you want to buy that thing? If so, I hope you're getting it dirt cheap because it looks pretty rough and who knows what mechanical faults it might have. I hope it works out in your favour.

It's a WW2 US Navy Marked machine, so I'm paying for that honestly than for the mechanics.
I probably won't end up getting it because the seller is firm at an unreasonable price.
But if I got it it would probably be for display anyway.
Was just curious if replacement parts for typewriters was something that was available.

Remington were making typewriters in London before the war.  The portable typewriters at least were always marked ' Assembled by British Labour from parts imported from the USA' (or wording that was very similar !)

This one has a data plate and sticker on the back tying it to the USN
