Jimmy's letters are multi-media and a great read!
I like to use different papers and different machines plus placing occasional unique letter heads at times.

Like George, I've used vintage letterheads on interesting paper stock. I have sent the odd letter to friend that included photos printed onto the paper that were relevant to what I had typed.
The pronoun I has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

What a great topic. I'd interested in other suggestions...
I've looked into Etsy papers and envelopes, which can be creative ways of adding interest to letters.
Also, another option is to print and image as a watermark using MS Word or similar. It can be difficult to get the right transparency, as sometimes ticking the 'washout' box makes the background image too faint.

I used this stationary from time to time, and always get a reply. But usually the reply will come via email...

Stuart, that's an intriguing idea and I think you've inspired me to try something similar. I'm guessing that a lower contrast image (subject) would work best as it would avoid dark areas that hide the type and there would be less risk of the light areas being washed out.
The Titanic stationary is amusing (even despite recent events). I'm thinking of similar themed letterheads now.
