Rheinmetall KsT

Hi,

I bought yesterday a Rheinmetall KsT from 1952 (serial nr 320304).

There is one thing i don't understand.
My machine looks like thishttps://typewriterdatabase.com/1952-rheinmetall-kst.4687.typewriter
You can see that on the bottom the text says "Rheinmetall-Borsig A.G.". But A.G. states for Aktiengesällschaft = Limited Company. The city of Sömmerda, where the Rheinmetall factory was, belonged after the war to GDR and there were no Limited Companies in GDR. GRD had companies abreviated as VEB meaning Volkseigener Betrieb, a company owned by the people.

So why did they produce typewriters with the old name of the Rheinmetall company? Did they have so much old parts left? I would expect that leaders in GRD would not have wanted to see anything reminding people about capitalism.

Re: Rheinmetall KsT

Actually they tell in the german Wikipedia article (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rheinmetall)
that a factory in Düsseldorf continued producing typewriters. So were the Rheinmetall typewriters made in Western Germany actually and did they use the old name of the factory in the machines?
