Paul,
I would go after those issues with lacquer thinner (LT) and compressed air blows. That old Facit factory oil can really gum things up.
Pretty ease to lift off the carriage to get to the escapement mechanism. And removal of the back panel is easy too.
Keep the LT off of any painted surfaces, plastics, and/or rubber. As that will eat them up.
