comfort problem

I cut the legs off of a computer desk to make it about 25.5 inches high, which works perfectly for my QDL and all of my other machines. I'm 5'7. But I'm trying to get comfortable with my SM9, and I feel like it sits too high, or the keyboard is too steep. However, the need for knees precludes me from lowering the desk any more. When I type on the Olympia I feel strain in the backs of my hands, an inch or two above the wrist. I wonder if its hopeless, whether there's simply no way to get comfortable on these SM9s or if there is something else I can do. They are such buttery smooth machines compared to my others and I really want to like them.

And no, I am too undisciplined to learn proper technique. I'm a hack typer.
