So you were right the escapement doesnt move at all. I loosened the screw and was able to manually move it. I notcied that the carriage advanced as I moved it, so it seems to be working ,but doesnt move on its own (when I press the keys). What is the mechanism that helps initiate the escapement, maybe this is where my problem is??

I've had to remove, disassemble, and clean a number of escapements because they were seized solid from congealed oil and dirt. When you're that deep into a machine you can of course check all the other components in the escapement are to make sure everything moves freely and as it should; if the escapement is that dirty you can bet that everything else in the area will be too.
The pronoun I has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.
