If they're flat that would explain the paper loading issue (your platen might not be as bad as you think). You could try 'shaving' the feed roller so that it's round again - providing it's not brittle - and then build it back to its original diameter using heat shrink tubing.
The pronoun I has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Glad the link was helpful, and eager to hear how you get on with the rest of the job. I tried some rubber rejuvenator stuff, but it can't have been the right kind.
