Another Noiseless

Yesterday when looking on Craigslist for cheap machines, I found a listing for an Underwood Noiseless. In less than 24 hours, I was walking down the street with in. However, the drawband has snapped. I thought this would be an easy fix, but the knot on inside of the mainspring seems to be really in there. I can't even see it. Is there a way I can easily take it out?

Re: Another Noiseless

Ok, I may have jumped the gun before, but I have fixed the drawband issue. Apparently, this new noiseless is from the first year of Underwood production from 1932. So that makes it a whooping 15 years older than my Remington Noiseless. And it shows too. There are quite a few differences between the two. But I have noticed that the cover for the noiseless mechanism, is plastic on my Underwood, but steel on my Remington. The plastic is even cracked in some places. Why would Remington/Underwood do that? Is it even original?
