Re: Typeface database

As a scientist, I'm really digging these special character typefaces.  One day I must acquire one of these.  It never even occurred to me that there would be typewriters that had special symbols.

Re: Typeface database

An Imperial 66 from 1956.  Nothing unusual about the typeface that I have noticed yet, but very impressed with the machine's design overall.

Sincerely,
beak.

Re: Typeface database

Okay I have finally got a type sample from my new Adler Special. Apologies for my crap typing, though yu've all seen enough of my typos in here to expect it, I suppose...

What with this and the Hermes, and the Silent-Super (which turns out to have a rather lame o, unfortunately), I've gone very rapidly from having only a couple of pica machines (and all my 'main' typers - the Olympias - were elite) to having a little slew of them! Fun! I've yet, however, to come across any of these exciting narrow or 6cpi ones...

Re: Typeface database

Kat, that type is so crisp!

I've got one to upload.  This is from the 1926 Woodstock No. 5.  This guy works so smoothly now that I've got the typebars all cleaned up.  The typeface is not crisp, but I still like it! 10 cpi.

Re: Typeface database

Jesu, I love that! I love how big it says WOODSTOCK. What a beautiful thing. You have inspired me to do a type sample of the Remington Envoy I got a few weeks ago, which I love so much I keep it on my kitchen table so I can just have a quick little type whenever I happen to go past it.

Re: Typeface database

Lovely!  I just love the styling of those.  I don't have a Remington yet, but I'd love to get one with that swooped up piece in front of the type bars. It's very aesthetically pleasing to me.

The Woodstock really cleaned up well.  It had a pretty good layer of tar, dust, and bug parts on everything.  I've managed to clean all of the places I can get to without taking the carriage off.  I don't think I'm ready for that yet. I can't get the paper table really clean.  I'm scared to do too much because of the decals.

Typeface from my new 1966 Lettera 32. I really like this one!

Re: Typeface database

I like that one too. I was admiring it on your blog. I like the thick parts of the letters.

I love it. Do you know the name of the typeface on your new Lettera 32?

Re: Typeface database

I think I saw this Olivetti typeface called simply "Shaded Elite " somewhere, I think it was in a catalogue of typefaces. But where I saw that I can't remember now... I would love to choose a brand new typewriter and pick out a typeface for it!
