Tab Keys on Early Royals

Probably FAQ.  Please redirect if already asked.  My search terms too vague.

One site shows a green Royal "P" model that has a tab key.  Ones with this option are uncommon?  Haven't seen any on the bay or Etsy.

"O" models I've seen while browsing also seem to omit the tab key.

If my focus is collecting earlier machines, I'll have to budget or hope to find the "Deluxe" model that came standard with tabs?

As you can guess, I use tab key pretty often.  ; )

Re: Tab Keys on Early Royals

I'm pretty sure the tab key on early Royals was an option. I have only ever seen a few with them, and it's only on machines with whacky colors. If you want a portable with a tab, a popular model is the Royal Quiet DeLuxe, or Aristocrat. These are great machines and are generally common.

And I use the tab key often too. It's always a slight pain when they don't come with a tabulator...

A high schooler with a lot of typewriters. That's pretty much about it.

Re: Tab Keys on Early Royals

Thanks.  Kind of what I thought, but that saved me hours of going through google-books looking for ads, catalogs, etc.

Digressing, but catalogs out there in PDF?  I think WorldCat lists a some that are in bound volumes, but alumni card doesn't extend to inter-library loan.  I'm as interested in the history of them as I am typing.
