Or possibly a canny seller suggesting the reason it's broken is that they don't understand the controls, when in fact it's really broken? Yes, I am cynical!

Actually I took such a gamble and won - a very nice looking SM-3 at moderate price described as "Keys stop short of paper". Even without a manual or an example a small lever looked like a carriage lock so I took a chance it really was the carriage lock and not a seller luring me into believing it was the carriage lock. When it arrived, carriage and keys were not even locked any more - whether seller had discovered this themselves or not! Machine works perfectly, albeit noisily. Combination of hard platen and small size I suppose.

Yet another seller describing regular typeface as script, this time in multiple auctions...

An honorable mention in this category belongs to:

"Olympia SM3 Deluxe Typewriter - RARE Script Font Logo - w/ Carry Case"

No type sample is visible and I believe what they mean is that the logo is in script - like every other machine of this model. Of course, the logo is neither rare, nor does "font" add anything to the meaning except to produce a mental stop after "script" suggesting that font is the only word modified!

I messaged her and asked if she switches the ribbon setting to blue or red, does the ribbon then go up when typing.  And she confirmed that it does move and told me I was super smart. LOL.

Re: Your Ebay watch list

If anyone spots a large type face Olympia, please let me know.  Or any other brand even, I'd love to take a look.

Looking for the "Bulletin" type face, 10 CPI or larger would be great.

Re: Your Ebay watch list

yeah, I'd love to run across a 6 cpi machine.  I think there is one currently listed on ebay.  I know I saw it the other day but I forgot what kind of machine it was.

Re: Your Ebay watch list

I've got a 6 cpi Smith Corona Classic 12 I'm thinking of selling. It's not the prettiest thing I've ever seen.

LOL. isn't that funny about the Classic 12s? some have the best cursive or larger typefaces but I struggle with the shape.

It's just a regular pica size by the looks of it. To each his own, but that's a hefty price tag for a typeface that isn't exactly rare.

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.
