Typewriter Talk / LC Smith Half Spacing?

I see in old ads the LC Smith machines feature half spacing. Any idea how to employ it?

They show the following lines of type all using the same width on the page.
I have it
I heard it
I had it

As usual you were on the money. The instructions in Joe's video were what I needed. I was pleasantly surprised at how many machines have the feature.
