I recently bought an Underwood Four Bank portable on craigslist. The seller lives in L.A. but was in the area this weekend, so he brought it to the office. Well, he brought the wrong typewriter. Instead, he had an Underwood No. 5, a machine I've coveted for quite awhile. I wasn't vexed at all: in fact, I like this better. The seller is a collector, so it's in great shape and has a fresh ribbon. I typed with it: very smooth and nice. One of my best older standards, no doubt.
