This book sounds really interesting -- how to make a typewriter for the Chinese language? I read a review of the book in the Wall Street Journal over the weekend, but the WSJ doesn't allow you to read it online unless you subscribe. So here is another review: https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/chinese-typewriter

Hmmm... 500+ pages just on the development of the Chinese typewriter? You'd have to be a really serious typewriter enthusiast to want to plow through that material!

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Sounds like it's right up your alley, then!  Actually, some of the description of how it was tackled has parallels with how computer language developed.

It got a brief write-up in the New Yorker recently.
Also, more in-depth coverage in this hour-long podcast at Tech Nation Radio.
