Typewriter Talk / Principal spring brake adjustment.

Hello
I have a machine that has a centrifugal spring brake (I thought I read that somewhere...) and I can't adjust it, the belt slips on it...
It's an office machine from around 1945...
Do you have any ideas for tuning ?

Oliver,

It might help if you let members know the make/model of your machine.

Belt and a brake...sounds like an electric...???

Centrifugal brakes can get cruded up with old oil/grease that has hardened into candle wax.

I would start with taking that off the machine or clean it in place with denatured alcohol or even lacquer thinner (LT)...but you have to keep LT away from painted and plastic/rubber parts. Soak and blow with compressed air over and over again to dissolve and blow out the build-ups.

Might be a good time to get new belt(s) on the machine as well.

The brand is Rooy and model B44 (I forgot to specify )...
I already took it apart and cleaned it, it was very clean in advance...
There are two metal tabs, sliding in two opposite slides and which rotate in the hull...
In addition, everything works well, it is once the TAB button is pressed, and the brake is reassembled and in contact with the spring which makes the carriage circulate that this poses a problem, because there is a blockage and the spring skids off the brake.
I don't know if I'm clear, but I'm doing my best.

I found that two gear components the centrifugal brake rubs too much, is it a good idea to add oil ?
