Typewriter Talk / Brought home an electric typewriter

Went to give mom and dad their anniversary card and left with the Smith Corona Coronet Super 12 that I used to practice on at home. I think it will need a new ribbon cartridge. It does type, but the text isn't that great. I haven't done any searching yet to see if any replacement cartridges are available. Are there places that sell typewriter ribbon cartridges?

You can easily find some on eBay, but some stores that repair typewriters sell ribbons too. Hope this helps.

I got a new ribbon for tbis machine yesterday. I need to load it up and give it a try.

At least one of the capital letters is missing the top of the letter on this machine. I believe it is an R at the moment, but may be other letters. I just used it to type a letter to Brian and noticed this happening. Any Idea what causes this or how to fix it?

Is the actual slug damaged or is it just not printing right?

I'm not in front of the machine at the moment but, I thought I looked and it seemed intact. I seem to recall that going back over the letter a second time helped.

The slug looks ok. It just isn't always printing a full letter.
