What have these sold for generally? Auctions can be scary things -- you can lose sight of your limit ("If I just bid a little more!" -- but the other guy may be prepared to go much higher). So do your research and then be disciplined.

Unless you can carefully inspect the machine first, I wouldn't bid more than I'd be willing to pay for a non-functioning model that might be missing a few parts.
The pronoun I has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Hey guys!, im new in the forum and i recently start to collect typewriters, im from argentina and i have 3 typewriters in view to buy but i dont find information about any of one,the first is,i believe, a Smith corona but i dont know which model is it,for the shape it seems very similar to a sterling
The other one is label as unitype,i only found that is a versión or very similar to the torpedo model 2
The last one is a Erika portable, but the painting confuse me and i cant figure it out which model is it, is the model S?
I hope you guys can help me!!

I can't help you on the second two, since I don't know the Torpedos and Erikas. As for the Smith-Corona, since it doesn't seem to have a tabulator, I would guess it's a Clipper. Based on the body style, it's late 1940s.

Maybe take "like new" with a grain of salt -- the wear on the platen would give an indication of how much use it's had. But I'm sure the seller is referring to cosmetics. It of course all depends on how common these are in your area, and how much you want it. My SM3 (two tone maroon and gray, so somewhat less common perhaps) I paid $60 for, and it was in beautiful condition. See whether $75 will work -- again, it depends on their scarcity in your area.

Around Des Moines it's very common for items to be listed for more than the new price no matter the condition. I was thinking of offering $60 because I'm sure that typewriter is not likely to be like new. Your reply helps me. Thanks Fleetwing.
