I tried to to type something out with the rubber buffers on the platen removed, and it seems to work a little better than my previous post after trying to type for an extended period. The stoppages are happening at the "40" position (the number on the paper bail) and "52" position. Those are the spots where the machine will advance if I tap the side.



this is a type sample where you can maybe see where the carriage is not advancing, so the slugs strike the same position unless I move it forward with my hand.
