Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. I'm just asking. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking an edit button somewhere.
It's been a little while since I joined but I probably quickly skimmed the FAQ and missed this. I probably wouldn't have forgotten the way this works since it's a little different.
I'm having a lot of fun hanging out here and I very much appreciate that I'm able to ask questions and get excellent help.

I assume that in the spirit of using a typewriter these forums don't allow editing an existing post by anyone other than a moderator.
The other possibility is that I'm too dense to see the obvious. Am I just missing it?

Noise reduction only?
Any disadvantages? Will it slide on a glass surface?
I've seen felt ones. Is that the type to get if I get one?
Are they primarily for Standards or are they good for Portables too (SM3)?

Are these readily available for an SCM Galaxie Deluxe? Are they easy to replace?
Looks like the solvent in Wite-Out messed up the line indicator a bit. I got the old Wite-Out off of it but I think the solvent melted the plastic in a couple of places.
Not sure if it's worth replacing on a 50 year old typewriter. Maybe many of them have this problem. It does add a bit of character.
Should I just leave it alone?

I've been dreaming all afternoon about using that.
I've seen references to the Galaxie but not the Galaxie Deluxe. Is the Galaxie Deluxe the same as the Galaxie?

1959 was my guess since he would have turned 17 or 18 that year. I asked him about it yesterday when I got it and he said he used his dad's typewriter and lived at home the first few years of college. Later he bought this typewriter and moved away to finish at another school. He thinks he bought it somewhere between 1966 and 1968. Still, 1966 or later seems like quite a while but I didn't press him for an explanation or more details. His recollection goes along with TWDB/serial number.
The typewriter is cleaning up nicer than I thought it would. I took the tray off the bottom to vacuum it from that side. (It reminded me that I should check the crumb tray on my toaster.)
Other than the carriage release lever I haven't found any problems. I have yet to type on a piece of paper with it but the keys seem to all move well and not to stick at all. Seems to have some scuffs, scratches, and honest wear and tear. I like it.
