Early Typewriters » Thinking about scanning an 1896 Typewriter Company Catalog » 13-5-2015 20:54:23

You're welcome.  Glad you enjoyed it.  Seeing the prices and descriptions were particularly interesting to me.

Nice work Mike.  Looks like you even painted the ribbon switch and platen knobs?  Awesome work.

My first Olympia!  1960 SG1 - Serial Number 565643.  Picked up on Craigslist for $30!  I cleaned it up and oiled it, got the bell working and I'm in LOVE!!!!  (Still hoping to find an SM3-9 though)

Totally agreed.  The 50's Royal Quiet Deluxe is one of my favorite portables.

Hey Nick - Congratulations.  Is it the one with the white/woodgrain on the white and grey?
Those Royal ultraportables look pretty sweet.  I'd love to find one.

My wife happend upon a catalog from 1896 in postmarked envelope from The Typewriter Company with engravings, pricing and info on all the current models.  It even had the original inserts.  I'm thinking about scanning it, but a little reluctanct given its age.  Would anyone out there like to see it?  I don't want to go through the trouble if no-one is interested.

I'm from the St. Louis, Missouri region in the heart of Midwestern United States.  My wife and I have always loved old things.  Our house looked like a museum, until we started having a children, now it looks like an episode of "Hoarders".  One of my favorite things to hoard is typewriters.  I love the idea that you can have a machine that most consider archaic and it still work as well as it was designed to a century ago.
