Maintenance & Repairs » Anyone got ideas on what models to make new feet for? » 08-4-2018 07:27:52

Heres an example for some Quadra 700 feet (Computer) I made. New ones white, old ones gray.

Think I am ready to start up a batch of typewriter feet! PM me and we can work it out from there.

Lucas, I used to make mine out of caulking too! Lol. Mine had the same issue, but in addition were really soft and also non grippy.

Sorry for the lack of response here. Still setting up. Right now I am going to focus on some vintage computer feet, and once those are tested (As I have them on hand to test), Ill move to these!

Keep posting! Remember, if youve got the model on hand, that would be great.

Great ideas guys! Do any of you happen to have a few or one on hand?

Lucas, it's TPU.

Type Talk » Smith-Corona/Corona print quality » 14-3-2018 14:26:40

Ive only really had a few good Smiths and thought they were fine...? Even the Smith Premiers ive had were just as nice as late royals and underwoods. Could it be your typing style?

I agree with posters above. Even one of those gigantic 70s royal manual desktops might be good too, cheap and are heavy.

Hello again all,

Thinking of doing another run of feet, hopefully for longer this time. These will be hard rubbery feet, not those really soft and squishy ones I did before.

So... Any ideas on some models that need new feet? If you are interested in getting new feet, and have the model on hand, I would love to work with you on getting some measurements. I slimmed down my collection to one typewriter, so cant really get the common model measurements :/. I am not sure on what I will give people who do this for me yet, but thinking of a set of free feet maybe...?

Anyways, respond below! Also would love to hear about other rubbery or soft parts, or even regular plastic/metal that have long since disintegrated that people are in need of! (Unsure of exactly what else besides feet and the type rest...).

Maintenance & Repairs » Royal HH palm tab key? » 30-9-2017 21:16:09

No it is sticking, I think it's bent and scraping the tab key. That's all just wondering if it was intentional, obviously not supposed to stick!

Got an HH, and I'm wondering what that big key under tab does?

When I hold it down, it brings down tab, and it's kinda acting like tab lock.
What is it supposed to do?

Maintenance & Repairs » Fine yesterday. Now big problem. Mineral spirits. Typebars... » 04-9-2017 18:00:28

Same.

I think since we have ruled out grime pretty much, it's the type bar having a light coating of something. I have seen it be rust, and a white sticky film.

At this point, either do the above, OR if you want to totally solve it remove the typebars.  Not sure how difficult it is on these...
