Keep going!
It's always best to strike while the iron is hot when it comes to writing...

I'm writing a story I couldn't have planned if I'd tried. Having so much fun, not knowing what's going to happen next.

I changed typewriters -- I switched from the SC Sterling to the 1966 Underwood Five desk machine. I had to roll a new ribbon onto those spools, but I absolutely love the way the printing looks with a fresh ribbon and the Touch-Master Five allows me to get "bursty" with my typing.

I'm currently using my Remington 17. I like the way it types. I don't like the height of the chair that I'm sitting in when using it; I have to reach up. Oh well. That's the way it is for now.

Those Touch-Master Five models are great machines, and I could easily see myself doing an entire NaNoWriMo with one. They're underrated, a bit of a well-kept secret, perhaps for no other reason than they don't look very vintage (and yet it's another feature of the typewriter that I happen to think is praise worthy).

I updated my word count, small though it is to this point.

Yes, the T M 5 was a good machine. Yet back in the 1970's they were deeply unpopular and difficult to sell secondhand. It was purely the appearance. Customers were used to seeing machines like the Olympia SG3, and to their eyes the carriage looked rather strange, as if on outriggers.

I don't seem to be able to get started at all this year. I am writing, but it's letters and journaling. And the grocery list. If my word count is just my grocery list you guys won't tell on me I'm sure . . . .

Did a bit more tonight. Will update tomorrow.

A new ribbon is great and I can see that in comparing two of my machines (used for two different stories). However, I was surprised to 'only' get a 537 words out of one page of text.
